As a member of the English faculty at Lake Superior College, I was awarded a sabbatical leave in Spring 2007 to broaden the global perspective of my composition and literature courses through new curricula development. I also took the opportunity to represent my institution as a guest lecturer at a Norwegian university and as a program reviewer and session chair at an international e-learning conference.

Finland Project

In Spring 2007, I also continued researching Finland's PISA assessment success within the MnSCU Faculty Award for Excellence program. I made field trips to and interviewed education experts at the following institutions:

Blog Development

During my sabbatical, I developed a new blog titled In Global Context to share ideas, assignments, and resources for globalizing college classrooms, with a focus on composition, literature, and e-learning applications. This blog contains several dozen lesson plans and classroom activities, for both online and face-to-face settings, which have been used by colleagues at Lake Superior College and other institutions, including a sociology course at Boston University.
